The Dragon Scale Consort

The Dragon Scale Consort performs at Renaissance fairs, madrigal dinners, weddings, and historical demonstrations -- special events requiring live music and authentic historical flavor. The consort can add color and excitement to your event by appearing in clothing of the High Middle Ages or Tudor era, or provide an understated backdrop in modern black and white apparel. If desired, we can engage the audience in learning about music, our instruments, and the history of the period we are clothed to represent. We perform dance music for historical dances and can also provide dance instruction. We are an Indianapolis-based early music group that performs Renaissance and Baroque music. We play recorders, from the tiny sopranino to the five-foot long great bass recorder. Our recorder players are supported by stringed instruments and percussion. The Dragon Scale Consort was founded in 2000 and currently has nine members.

In addition to our many private engagements , our appearances include the Indianapolis Children's Museum, the Acadiana Medieval Faire, the Fishers Renaissance Faire, the Indiana Ballet Company , and the Rathskeller.
